Dubai Municipality regulates food industry with a vision to ensure safety and quality of food products imported and distributed in the region available to its citizen and expatriates. To ensure this Dubai Municipality established simple registration procedure for importers yet powerful food control procedure enforced by active and effective food control authority.

Steps Involved in Food & Beverage Product Registration

①
Obtain a Commercial License in the UAE

The initial requirement for product registration is to obtain commercial trade license with relevant business activity. License could be either from Free Zone or from Main Land.

Register your company with DM Portal

Register the company with DM portal and create log in credentials.

③
File application for food product registration

Two step process - Create application with mandatory documents and necessary product information.
a) Food item barcode registration
b) Food item label assessment

Submit the application and make payment for DM review

Pay the fee for registration.

⑤
DM Review and Assessment

Authority review and label assessment feedback, based on feedback application will be approved, Incomplete (for lab test if any) or rejected (If any banned ingredients in formulation).

⑥
Registration Approval Marketing Authorization

Approval for Marketing Authorization will be given once the product is registered and the validity will be 5 years from the date of registration.

  • Artwork Label
  • Halal Certification (If any animal component present in formulation)
  • Additional supporting documents if any label claim as Organic, GMO free - Organic Certificate, GMO free Certificate

  • Product Name (English & Arabic)
  • Brand Name (English & Arabic)
  • Manufacturer details: Name, Address, Web address of manufacturer or Agent acting in UAE
  • Ingredients (English & Arabic)
  • Made in (Country) (English & Arabic)
  • Nutritional Facts (English & Arabic)
  • Net weight or volume (English & Arabic)
  • Allergy warning (if any) (English & Arabic)
  • Production and expiry date (English & Arabic)
  • Barcode
