Health & Nutritional supplements contains one or more combination of dietary ingredients intend to supplements one’s diet by taking a pill, capsule, tablet, powder or liquid. The class of nutrients compounds include Vitamins, Minerals, Sports nutrition, protein powders, fibre, fatty acids, Amino acids, Collagen, Enzymes, Pre-biotic, Pro-biotic, Botanicals and Herbals. All health supplements must be registered in Dubai Municipality prior to import and market. This process enables the authority to ensure the health & Safety of consumer.

Steps Involved in Dietary & Nutritional Supplements Registration

Obtain a Commercial License in the UAE

The initial requirement for product registration is to obtain commercial trade license with relevant business activity. License could be either from Free Zone or from Main Land.

Register your company with DM Portal

③

File application for cosmetic product registration

Create application with mandatory documents and necessary product information.

Submit the application and make payment for DM review

Pay the fee for registration.

DM Review and Assessment

Authority review and product assessment feedback, based on feedback application will be approved, Incompleted (for lab test if any) or rejected.

Registration Approval Marketing Authorization

Approval for Marketing Authorization will be given once the product is registered and the validity will be 5 years from the date of registration.

Dietary & Nutritional Supplements Registration Cost

The fee for Dietary & Nutritional Supplements Registration cost is 230 AED (Government fee). It may vary based on product category and lab test if any, DM advises after review.

Label Should Not Contain Following

1. Inconsistent illustrations: Pictures, illustrations which are inconsistent with the prevailing social customs and values shall not be used.

2. Medical Claims: Any claims related to prevention, treatment or curing any type of diseases must not be presented or referred on the labels, brochures, leaflets or advertisements or in any other way.
